Studio Ard is an award-winning creative practice founded by Swiss art director Guillaume Chuard specialising in art direction, editorial and digital design. The studio collaborates with a wide range of international artists, curators, cultural institutions and brands – operating from London with satellites in Lausanne and Copenhagen.

With close ties to photographers, developers and type designers, we produce comprehensive visual languages for a wide spectrum of media spanning from visual identities, books, magazines, digital campaigns and websites to exhibition design and signage; for individuals, cultural institutions and commercial clients. We see every commission as an opportunity to build long-lasting relationships and in close dialogue with our collaborators, we develop solutions that respond to the client’s values and needs. Free from limiting aesthetic genres, we believe in a rational approach to design that takes any possible opportunity to push a project in an unexpected and challenging direction that can live beyond momentary trends. While our approach focuses on creative concepts and art direction, we put a very special attention to production management, for physical as well as digital projects, as we believe the power of a design also sits in its finer details.

Over the last years, we have built our own network of printers, specialist makers and web developers who we have established a close working relationship with. Studio Ard frequently gives lectures and workshops at universities in the UK and abroad, including the Royal College of Art, ECAL, University of East London, and London College of Fashion. We see education as an inherent part of our design practice and an opportunity for exchanging and developing ideas beyond commissions.
